The picture below represents two places in the Western Hemisphere. Can you figure out where they are?

The answer is…

…that there is a place in the United States and another place in Canada where four regions meet. If you check a map of the United States, you’ll see that Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico meet, with a monument called “Four Corners” marking the spot. In Canada, two provinces (Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and two territories (Northwest Territories and Nunavut) meet at an almost exact corner, although the nearest road to that point is so far away, it’s pretty unlikely that Canada has any “Four Corners” monument of its own marking the spot.

The two-letter abbreviations are postal abbreviations, in case you’re mailing any of those places.

Uh oh! It looks like a large group of animals has been eaten by a different large group of animals! Each word on top is the name of an animal with some letters missing, and the letters missing are the name of an animal from the bottom. Each animal on the bottom is only used once. Can you place them all?

Expert challenge: See if you can complete the puzzle without looking at the animal names on the bottom!

Answers:
HOWLER MONKEY
FOX
REINDEER
WILDEBEEST
WOMBAT
BEAGLE
ANTELOPE
KINGFISHER
STALLION
CATERPILLAR
LEMUR
HEDGEHOG
MUSKRAT
MONGOOSE
PIGEON

P.S. If you said “MUSKOX” instead of “MUSKRAT”, I’ll give you half points, but that would turn “FOX” into “FRAT”, and I’m pretty sure that’s not an animal.
